The Long U.S.–China Institute at the University of California, Irvine is dedicated to advancing research, dialogue, and public understanding of China and U.S.–China relations.

At a moment when global transformations are reshaping political, economic, and cultural connections across the Pacific, the Institute serves as a trusted platform for rigorous scholarship and open bilateral exchange.

In the interest of fostering bilateral engagement between China and the U.S., we support scholarship and events that facilitate mutual understanding and that highlight a diversity of voices and disciplinary approaches. We are particularly interested in bridging the gaps between academia, journalism, and the public sector.

Our core focus areas include:

 Cross-Border Economy, Business, and Law

 Social Change and Cultural Understanding

 Health, Innovation, and Sustainability

Diaspora, Identity, Storytelling, and the Arts

 China and the Global Order

Researching and Writing about China Today

The Long Institute is committed to making knowledge about China accessible beyond the university. Through lectures, conferences, media engagement, and community partnerships, we aim to foster thoughtful public conversations about China and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

The Long-US China Institute is a proud sponsor of UCI's annual Lunar New Year celebration.
